Start Out Fresh Intervention Advocates (SOFIA) is a local nonprofit organization providing advocacy, supportive services and referrals for temporary housing to “at risk” women and children of domestic violence.

Our recent grant will help fund their “We Care” program, which provides these women and children with household essentials supporting their health and well-being.

Please visit our website today to learn more about our NEW guidelines and criteria. Grantees will need to apply during the cycle that best aligns with their mission and project focus. This change will allow our grant committee to compare applications within similar categories.

The Fall 2024 grant cycle is open to local nonprofits that support Mental Heatlh and Well-Being, Food Security or Housing. As you can only apply once within a 12 month period, exceptions will be made for those qualitfying organizations that had applied in Spring 2024. Time goes fast, so don't delay in submitting your application. Together we can make a brighter future.

Montclair Neighborhood Development Corporation was created to empower and support disadvantaged youth and families through training, education, and advocacy. We are thrilled to be able to provide a grant that will help fund upgraded computers for its Oasis program, which provides academic and enrichment activities throughout the summer.

Interesting find today during Laura's work in the Gardens!

The weird fuzzy lumps on this pin oak leaf are caused by Furry Oak Leaf Gall Wasp or Oak Tribble Gall (Callirhytis furva).

These leaf galls cause little or no harm to the health of the tree and are part of the wasp's life cycle, containing the developing insects.
