We rely heavily on a vibrant volunteer program and are committed to providing hands-on training and creating rewarding volunteer experiences. Our volunteers are essential in our work as stewards of our House & Gardens and as a valuable community resource. We have volunteers that have been with us for many years, including students, retired people, plant lovers, people without a green thumb, young parents and sometimes longtime residents of Montclair and its environs. Van Vleck is a place where we can contribute to our community, learn new things, and make new friends. You will meet other volunteers working hand-in-hand with them or at special events. Corporate-Sponsored Volunteering Education Programs Description: Assist teachers, prepare program materials and crafts, help with administrative tasks If you or someone you know enjoys working with children and the outdoors, please contact us at the link below regarding volunteer opportunities in our Education Department. Contact Now Garden Maintenance Position: Garden Volunteer Description: Weeding, trimming ivy, pruning, sifting compost and other assorted tasks. When: Weekdays 8:00am to 3:00pm, March through November. Minimum of one hour per visit, with at least 24 hours’ advance notice. If you enjoy garden work, please click on the button below. Contact Now Special Events Description: Volunteers are needed to support our special events and fundraisers.
