We are located in a residential neighborhood within walking distance of downtown Montclair, a vibrant diverse community 12 miles from New York City. Walking Push pedestrian button near the entrance gate, and gate will open. *The public is welcome to enter daily between dawn and dusk unless otherwise noted. Leaving Driving Approach exit gate slowly with your vehicle, and gate will open. Gates open inward. Walking Push pedestrian button near the exit gate (look for small red sign), and gate will open. Please note that entrance and exit gates on Van Vleck Street are at opposite ends of the parking lot. Parking We have a parking lot located at our entrance on Van Vleck Street and another at our entrance on North Mountain Avenue. Please utilize those lots before parking on the local streets. Van Vleck House & Gardens is located in a quiet and beautiful residential neighborhood of Montclair. We ask that all our guests respect those characteristics by refraining from using loudly amplified sound or music, arriving or departing in buses or trolleys, parking vehicles in such a way as to impede residents from accessing their driveways, or behaving in any manner that could be deemed obnoxious or disrespectful of our neighbors. Limos, van and party buses are no longer allowed at Van Vleck House & Gardens. Hours Dawn to Dusk, year-round Rules & Regulations Enjoy our six acres of private parkland and gardens open year-round to the public from dawn until dusk. We also understand the desire to view the inside of the main house. Please note that is not open to the public unless there is a fundraiser, class, or event you are attending. If looking for the restrooms, they may be found in the Visitor Center (map). When visiting the Gardens, please consider donating non-perishable items to our collection bin in the Visitor Center. Together we will be helping reduce food-insecurity in the community and supporting our neighbors. Donations go directly to local food pantries, just as the harvests from our Edible Garden provide delicious produce for Toni’s Kitchen. We’re proud to be part of such a great cause.
