Michelle Wiessner, Director of Education March 19, 2026 by tracey Michelle Wiessner joined the Montclair Foundation at Van Vleck House & Gardens as the Director of Education in 2007. She is dedicated to providing engaging environmental, horticultural, arts and wellness programs for children, families and adults. Michelle holds a bachelor’s degree in environmental science from Rutgers University and completed additional coursework in outdoor teaching, environmental education and ecology. Previously she worked as the Director of Education at Reeves-Reed Arboretum in Summit for over 10 years, presented outdoor teaching workshops at the New Jersey Science Teachers Convention, the Alliance for New Jersey Environmental Education (ANJEE) Conference and several individual schools in the New Jersey area. Michelle has been a member of ANJEE since 1997, served on the Advisory Board and on various committees, and attends yearly Environmental Education Conferences throughout the state. She is passionate about discovering and exploring the natural world with our community and strongly believes spending time outdoors has a beneficial impact on our wellbeing.
