July 24 – Honey Bees & Beekeeping – Join Eric Hanan of Bee Haven Bees to learn about honey bees and beekeeping. Eric will discuss the beehives here at Van Vleck, and bring an observation hive for up close viewing. (Living Room Main House)

July 31 – Summer Interest Garden Tour – Join Laura Roberts, Director of Horticulture at The Montclair Foundation – Van Vleck House & Gardens, for a journey through the beauty of the season. Tour highlights will include many beautiful blooming specimens as well as a visit to our Kitchen Garden which showcases a bountiful collection of veggies, greens, and herbs. Outdoor tour, so please dress for the weather with appropriate footwear.

August 7 – A Closer Look –  Secret features of the garden projected from our microscope… enjoy a multitude of samples from the beautiful to the bizarre.  Attendees are invited to bring a few of their own samples as well.

August 14 – Seed Paper Making – Make your own seed paper that you can actually take home and plant!

August 21 – Drought Resistant Plants – Join us for a walking tour of the drought resistant plants thriving in the gardens of Van Vleck and learn why they are so tolerant of our New Jersey summers.
