Van Vleck House will be open for public viewing of Dr. Barry DiBernardo’s photography exhibit. Saturday May 14th from 1pm-3pm and Sunday May 15th from 2pm-5pm. The exhibit is free. Proof of vaccination is required.

Our 2022 Van Vleck Photo Community Contest will have four categories of amateur competition:
Photos must be taken at Van Vleck House & Gardens between April 9 to May 13. Photos should not include any people.

Please choose which appropriate category to enter and upload your photo submission (ONE PHOTO ENTRY PER REGISTRATION FEE) to this Dropbox portal by 11:59pm EST on May 13, 2022. When naming your files, please use the following format (including your first and last name along with title of your work): your full name_VanVleck2022_photo title.
By entering this contest, The Montclair Foundation reserves the right to use submitted photos for promotional purposes.

On May 22nd at 2PM, there will be an awards ceremony for the contest winners. Judge Jay Dickman will also give a photo presentation and lecture at the event, tickets HERE. Winners will be invited in mid-May to the event.
Contest Judges:
Dr. Barry DiBernardo was enamored by photography since the age of 12. He learned still photography quickly and received the Top Award by the New Jersey Federation of Camera Clubs 3 years in a row. Simultaneously at age 16, was recognized by Eastman Kodak for his motion picture abilities by winning the Kodak International Teenage Movie Award Competition.
Dr. DiBernardo is the creator and Founder of Dermagraphix®, an imaging system for the early detection of skin cancers now used worldwide. Barry created and published The Photographic Standards in Clinical Photography and is one of the world leaders in clinical imaging as well as light and energy-based aesthetic treatment devices. Over the years as a photographer, he has traveled the world, pole to pole with National Geographic. The evolution from film to digital photography evolved over his photographic career.
With and eye for image and beauty, both in photography and plastic surgery, Barry DiBernardo is now producing images which are once finally to the standards of film. Technology both in cameras and printing had to progress to the point of sensors seeing as close to the human eye as never seen before. He believes we have entered a new era of the photographic experience and he has been championing the best technology in the industry today. In fact, he is one of a few photographers in the country using the Phase One 150 Megapixel Back with the Danish View Camera Cambo, and the finest Rodenstock German lenses.
Jay Dickman is a Pulitzer-Prize winner and National Geographic photographer, Jay Dickman’s work has appeared in 15 of the high-profile A Day in the Life of… series. His work also has won several awards in the World Press International Competition, including the Golden Eye award, and the Sigma Delta Chi Award for Distinguished Service in Journalism, as well as multiple awards in US competitions.
Nick Palmieri is an award-winning photographer who enjoys the creative aspects of many different types of photography. From wildlife to landscapes to portraits and macros, he has spent countless hours exploring a wide range of genres. Since 2009, Nick has been presenting programs and workshops on various aspect of photography throughout New Jersey and beyond. Nick currently serves as a Trustee for the New Jersey Federation of Camera Clubs and is a past President of both the Cranford-Millburn Camera Club and Camera Naturalists Camera Club. In 2015, the New Jersey Federation of Camera Clubs awarded him their Citation, recognizing his contributions to photography in New Jersey. Within the world of social media, he is a moderator for the very popular Facebook page, “Photography Help, Tips, Techniques, and Critiques.” Nick believes that the art of photography should be fully explored utilizing all the developments in modern technology while maintaining great respect for its deep historical roots.
