Van Vleck House & Gardens begins its tenth season of Second Sunday Afternoon concerts on October 9^th, with Carol Erickson and Bob McHugh performing Favorites from The Great American Songbook, a collection of important songs from the early 20th century.

’Let them Entertain you’ – The duo of Carol Erickson, vocalist, and Bob McHugh, pianist, do lively renditions of songs emphasizing the 20’s and 30’s, and Broadway hits from the 40’s and 50’s.

Carol Erickson has been performing publicly since 2010 in libraries, assisted living facilities, nursing homes, senior centers and clubs and restaurants throughout NY, NJ, and PA.  She has studied voice with Melanie Mitrano of Nutley, Mia Norrie of Montclair, and Anna at the Nutley School of Music. She was a member of Carrie Jackson’s Vocal Collective where she performed in the various showcases in NY and NJ.

Bob Mchugh is pianist, composer and educator who has recorded for Outstanding Records, Perception Records, Alliance Records and more. He has performed with Ray Mantilla, Ron Naspo, Andrew Cyrille, and Joe Morello. He has performed at the Count Basie Theater, the Newark Museum, the NY Library, Lincoln Center, and Riverside Church.   He has recently retired from teaching in the NJ Public School System.

The full season will encompass performances on piano, guitar, flute a celebration of Rodgers & Hammerstein, and the traditional Mothers’ Day concert by the New Jersey Symphony.  Additional special concerts may take place over the summer.
