
Learn how to make your own Lanternfly Trap.
First and second instar nymphs (black with white spots… about 1/8″ long) are now active in the landscape, and we are starting to catch them in the circle traps installed on a few trees in the garden. We are targeting trees that were observed to have high populations last year. This week our incredible high school horticulture interns helped put together a dozen more traps with Laura’s guidance. Materials:
- 2 plastic jugs or bottles
- fiberglass screen
- large ziploc bag
- zip ties
- duct tape
- sturdy wire rope or twine
- hot glue gun
- stapler
- scissors
