The partners were granted over 50 patents in Household, Personal Care and Topical Drug Delivery categories and share responsibility for creating and formulating well-known products, including Wet Ones®, StickUps®, Carpet Fresh®, Plush®, Erase®, JetDry®, Calgon® Water Softener & Residue Remover, Custom Cleaner® Home Dry Cleaning Kit and Cleanse ‘n Treat®. Their company was honored with a Top 25 NJ Businesses Award. Betty is highlighted in Barry Farber’s 12 Cliches of Selling (& Why They Work) and is also one of the featured subjects in The Happy 100, a book by journalist, Joanne Burke, about women who love their careers. A dedicated and active supporter of numerous community and non-profit organizations, Betty was the North Essex Chamber’s 2009 Community Leader of the Year; NJ Women Business Owners (NJWBO) Business Woman of the Year; received Working Woman’s Entrepreneurial Excellence Award, was president of Programs for Parents and Co-President of Bnai Keshet Reconstructionist Synagogue. Betty currently serves on the NY Advisory Board for Little Kids Rock, a national non-profit organization that supplies new instruments and music education training to public school children, the Membership Chair for the NJ Jewish Women’s Foundation and is on the Grants Committee for The Montclair Foundation. Betty also worked as a longtime volunteer and advisor to Dress for Success and has served on event committees for VanVleck House & Gardens and Shine Global, a documentary production company, and The Montclair Garden Club. Betty is the 2022 Honoree for the Montclair Art Museum’s Art In Bloom Luncheon. Betty performed for over 30 years with her sister, brother and mother, internationally acclaimed, Flory Jagoda, in a family group that sang in Ladino, the language of the Sephardic Jews who were exiled during the 15th Century Spanish Inquisition. Flory’s Flame, a documentary about Flory’s life and her music, was featured in film festivals around the world (www.florysflamemovie.com). Betty is committed to continuing her mother’s legacy as a participant on panels about the culture and traditions of the Sephardim. A native of Virginia, Betty has a BA in Dance from Adelphi University and a post-graduate certification in Dance Therapy from NY Medical College. She and her husband of 50 years, Greg Murphy, a Certified Financial Planner are also partners with Betty’s sister and brother-in-law, Lori and Jeremy Lowell, in several Gold’s Gyms. Their son, Josh, an entrepreneur himself, has his own creative agency, New Uniform Design, and lives with his beautiful wife, Meghan and their two perfect children, Liam and Flory, in Atlanta, GA.
