Our annual tour of 8 delightful private gardens will take place in Montclair and Glen Ridge on Friday, June 2nd and Saturday, June 3rd from 11am – 4pm. Admittance to the gardens requires a purchase of the Tour Journal which can be picked up at Van Vleck House on Friday and Saturday of the tour. Each garden may be toured once and the journal must be presented for admittance. The Journal has descriptions of each garden and a map with the addresses of all the properties to tour.
(Update: View the Journal here – addresses suppressed after the Tour for the homeowners’ privacy.) Thanks to our advertisers for their support.
Purchase Tour tickets HERE by Thursday, June 1st – $40 for members, $50 for nonmembers. The price will increase by $10 if bought at Van Vleck House on Friday or Saturday of the tour. Credit cards or cash will be accepted.
We will have a special treat on Friday morning. Award winning garden designer Lisa Mierop will give an informative presentation about her involvement in design projects at Van Vleck Gardens and in private gardens in our area. Her firm, Mierop Design, offers a complete range of exterior services from Master Landscape Planning and architectural services to full project implementation, including outdoor furnishings and customized property maintenance. The lecture is free but seating will be as space permits in the living room. Register here.
We are grateful for the generous spirit of our Tour homeowners and ask that you repay their kindness with your best garden etiquette. Please stay on the paths; do not pick any plant or any part of a plant; do not eat, drink, smoke or litter; and please, no pets or children under twelve years of age, and no strollers.
Please note street closings on Saturday June 3: The African-American Heritage parade will start at the corner of Maple & Bloomfield Avenues at 10:30 am and will move through the south end of town through out the morning. The festival runs from 1pm to 6 pm. Visitors traveling to the gardens on our Tour may need to readjust their path crossing those streets when going between gardens.
Thanks to the ongoing support of our sponsors.
