Montclair Foundation Announces Board of Trustee Challenge Match for Increased Grant Support December 22, 2022 by tracey Montclair Foundation Announces Board of Trustee Challenge Match for Increased Grant Support Baristanet: December 21, 2022 Montclair, NJ – The Montclair Foundation announces a special Challenge Match Campaign to increase grant giving in 2023. Gifts made will be matched 1:1 up to $15,000 by the Board of Trustees by December 31. “Local nonprofits give so much to our community behind the scenes, but we often don’t recognize their impactful and selfless work,” stated Grants Chair Peggy Deehan. “Every donation will go directly to helping these generous organizations grow and ensure that they can continue to help our community.” The Foundation is uniquely positioned to understand the broad range of needs in Montclair and beyond. Board members and local volunteers serve on the grant-making committee and evaluate each funding request with on-site visits and in-depth research. Each grant represents a thoughtful process and truly reflects the community’s interests and concerns. The Montclair Foundation is committed to doing more, especially in the areas of mental health, addressing the hunger crisis, and ensuring access to education. The bi-annual grant cycles in 2022 saw the most requests ever, five times what could be supported. Last week, the Board unanimously agreed to increase their individual annual gifts in order to put this challenge out to the community. “If this challenge is met it would mean an additional $30,000 for our spring grant fund, an increase of over 50%. Over the last four years we have seen requests from our local nonprofits grow exponentially and expect this trend to continue,” said Emer Featherstone, Montclair Foundation Board Chair. “If you have never made a gift to us, please make a gift of any size and we will match it. If you are a current donor, please consider increasing the size of your gift and we will double its impact.” Gifts of any size can be made online at montclairfoundation.org/donate or by contacting The Montclair Foundation at 973-744-4752 x6.
