Tea Time at Van Vleck June 6 & 7
May 1 @ 8:26 pm

Photos from some of the 2024 Tour gardens
Our annual tour of private area gardens is back! This will be the 25th Tour so we are celebrating many years of interesting, aspirational and labor-of love gardens in the greater Montclair area. Some gardens are quite grand and some more intimate but all provide a haven for the homeowners. Tour-goers will enjoy a range of horticultural styles and find their own personal inspiration. The garden locations are not revealed until the tour begins and the printed journal is the guide to the addresses and details on each garden. Each garden can be visited once during the Tour.
This year we will have a special guest speaker on Saturday morning at 9:30 AM in Van Vleck House: Jennifer Bernstein, New York Botanical Garden Chief Executive Officer and The William C. Steere Sr. President (bio below). A light continental breakfast will be included beginning at 9AM. Tickets to this limited seating event can be purchased separately from the tour ticket HERE or at the link below.
Tour tickets are available at the button below or by scanning the QR code until Thursday, May 29th. Tour tickets purchased during the tour on May 30th or 31st are $10 more and only available at Van Vleck House. Children under age 12 and pets are not permitted on the tour.
We appreciate the local advertisers and nonprofits who support our tour journal. Ads can be purchased HERE by May 9th. The purchase of a full page ad includes two tickets to the Tour.
Jennifer Bernstein, CEO & The William C. Steere Sr. President, The New York Botanical
Garden
Jennifer Bernstein is a proven leader with exceptional management experience in fundraising and
board development for prominent cultural, educational, and environmental organizations. She
leads the world-renowned New York Botanical Garden, as the institution’s CEO and William C.
Steere Sr. President.
After joining the Garden in 2021, she launched a new strategic and comprehensive master site
planning process that culminated in Branching Out: A Strategic Plan for 2024 – 2030. Adopted by
the Board of Trustees in November, 2023, Branching Out will revitalize more than 100 acres of
Garden property, enhance its role as a global scientific leader, and expand programs that support
the Bronx community. Additionally, Jennifer has welcomed ten new trustees to NYBG’s Board and
has helped solidify the institution’s financial position.
Jennifer cares deeply about protecting the environment and was especially attracted to the
Garden’s long history in plant research and conservation. Before joining the Garden, Jennifer was
Chief Development Officer and interim Chief Operations Officer at NRDC (Natural Resources
Defense Council). She is now driving NYBG’s role as a civic institution that propels the world’s
understanding of the critical role of plants to our lives and to a healthy and thriving natural world.
Jennifer is a member of the Women’s Forum of New York and on the board of the City University
of New York’s Lehman College Foundation.
Earlier in her career, Jennifer led fundraising and development for major New York cultural and
educational institutions, including as leader of advancement at Pace University and in roles at
Playwrights Horizon and Roundabout Theatre.
Thanks to our sponsors for their support.
